2023 Season

The 2nd CCL season ended with the Fuquay-Varina Twins on the top , overcoming the Lillington Pirates twice on August 3rd. The Tournament MVP was Oliver Zohn with 5 hits, 2 doubles and 5 runs scored and flawless fielding.

Thanks to the players and coaches who made it to the end, with all the rain outs, 14 for the Twins alone, as well as player loss; it was challenging season and hats off to Lillington’s Coach Powers for his diligence and hard work.

Next season we are looking forward to great expansion with possibilities in Radford Va., Danville VA,South Boston VA ,Roxboro NC, Lake Norman NC, Greenville SC and North Augusta GA, along with the Twins & Pirates.

About Us

Mission & Purpose

The CCL is one of the few if any summer collegiate leagues not devoted to profit but to enhancing player skill’s and ability so that when they return to school they will be improved as well as rested for their school season . Each team plays about 45-60 games as well as an all star game and tournament , however the CCL does it in double headers some there are days off for weight room , skill enhancement , summer school and down time after the grueling college schedule aside that the pitchers have 2 less innings per game to have to pitch but still get starts and work in ! Playing primarily on weekends and Wednesdays the players have time to improve and rest making for a great summer with fond memories .

History

The Carolina Collegiate (CCL) morphed from the Carolina Virginia Collegiate League circa 2007 . The Fuquay-Varina Twins and the Catawba Valley Stars are the only founders extant . Then came covid , all hades broke , NCAA suspended baseball , states called off spring sports and 2020 summer leagues were in limbo . After intense debate with the C.V.S.C.L. commissioner who declared that “ kids are gonna die and we will be sued” Coach Hauser ( FVtwins) took it upon his self to call a meeting and forge a head and play based on science and N.C.Dept. of Health and Emperor Coopers edicts . The Twins played all games on the road (48) ,with other teams playing on private fields with the towns of Tarboro and Wake Forest showing some courage and common sense . After 2020 with the ex-commissioner seizing the web site and all funds the TWINS , Wake Forest , Pirates and Tarboro joined the Tidewater League . After a very unsatisfactory season Lillington , Wake Forest , and Fuquay-Varina formed the CCL with new team Clayton . It was run by consensus and as expected the games were played but organization was out the window . The CCL now has a Board , by-laws , website , EIN, and a bank account with future growth imminent!
